I am Yasipi Casimir Uwihirew, a 20-year-old diploma holder in Maths, Physics, and Computer studies.
Why are you competing for Miss Africa Calabar 2020?
I believe that Miss Africa Calabar brings to reality the strength and abilities of African women in creating a positive change in the community and I took a step to join the course.
What solution would you offer for the challenges Africa is facing in terms of the COVID 19 pandemic and other health, governance, and environmental issues?
COVID 19 has affected Africa, most especially it’s economy. I feel that due to its nature – is an airborne disease and spreading rapidly – there is no effective solution other than making the vaccine affordable to all communities in Africa. This will bring this pandemic to a conclusion.
With regards to other health issues, there should be an enhancement of public insurances by governments across the continent, which should be able to make provision for basic treatments.
What would you do with the prize money should you win and what project would you take on to impact Africa at large?
I would invest in the future of Africa which is nurturing the dreams of young Africans especially their talents through talent tracking shows across Africa. And I believe by shaping their dreams into professionalism, their potential will grow and benefit society at large.
